Gujranwala: The Metropolitan Corporation Gujranwala (MCG) has resumed work on a project aimed at rehabilitating 18 major roads in the city — including the GT Road, a news source reported. This move comes in light of the federal government’s recent decision to lift the ban on the country’s construction sector.
Development work on these rehabilitation projects was put on hold due to the lockdown imposed earlier in March to contain the COVID-19 pandemic. Reportedly, the rehabilitation work is estimated to cost over PKR 300 million, for which funds have already been allocated.
The roads earmarked for rehabilitation include:
- The road linking Gondlanwala Phattak and ADB Chowk via DHQ Hospital
- Hafizabad Road
- Chaman Shah Road
- Asghar Ali Road
- The part of the Sialkot Road linking it with GDA Plaza Chowk
- Bukhari Road to Civil Line Police Chowk
- Kacheri Road
- Shamsi Chowk
- Pasroor Road
- Nowshera Road
- Bukhari Road
- Tahli Wala Qabirstan Road
- QDPS service Road
- GT Road connecting Chan Da Qila and Aziz Cross
