Islamabad: The authorities have unveiled a plan to undertake rehabilitation and maintenance work on the damaged section of Simly Dam Road, at the estimated cost PKR 74.954 million, according to news published in the national dailies on July 2.
The construction work was scheduled to commence after Eid and the contractor is obligated to complete the project within the specified timeframe. Simly Dam Road is a vital route, accommodating approximately 50,000 vehicles daily. To ensure its functionality, the road requires proper underground water drainage pipes, widening, and doubling.
However, expanding the road’s right of way poses challenges due to existing structures. The acquisition of land for widening would entail significant financial compensation for the affected properties and landowners.
