Rawalpindi: The Highway Department has started work on the construction and rehabilitation of different roads in Murree, which will be completed before Eid-ul-Fitr, according to a news story published in national dailies on April 26.

As per the details, Commissioner Noorul Amin Mengal, during his last visit to Murree, has directed relevant authorities to repair the 3-kilometre-long road from Lower Topa to Jhika Stree. The commissioner also directed to construct a 7-kilometre-long road from Kuldana to the Mall and from Sunny Bank to General Post Office Chowk.
Moreover, the commissioner stated that maintenance, repair, and restoration of roads are important to ensure that tourists won’t face any inconvenience in recreational places like Murree. He added that the work on the rehabilitation of 40-kilometre long main link roads of Murree has been initiated. For this purpose, PKR 500 million has been allotted.

Additionally, lane marking, guard railing repairs, and carpeting will also be done along with the installation of traffic signs on both sides of the road to prevent accidents. Commissioner Mengal directed to complete the work before Eid as people will visit the tourist destination.
