Haripur: Provincial Minister for Education Akbar Ayub Khan on Monday confirmed that the reconstruction and expansion work of the 20-kilometre-long Beer-Kalinjar Road is all set to commence in the coming week, according to news sources.

The minister said that the road links remote rural areas to Haripur city – an uplift event for the union councils (UCs) of the Beer, Kalinjar, Ladarmang and several adjoining areas that have remained neglected for many past years. He revealed that the provincial government has recently approved a number of uplift schemes, worth billions, to develop the livelihood of locals of these areas.

While talking about the Beer-Kalinjar Road, Khan said that the PKR 1.17 billion road rehabilitation scheme involves re-carpeting and widening up to 30 ft, which will facilitate the commuters of over 30 villages located on both sides of the said road.
Furthermore, Minister Ayub also said that the tenders for the road have already been floated and the project will be launched in the next week. He revealed that two additional link roads – Kalinjar-Jamm Road and Kalinar-Kheri Road – were also near completion as well, with a development cost of PKR 70 million.
