The central bank made the announcement in a press release. It announced that it had allowed all federal and provincial government departments, hospitals in public and privates sectors, charitable organisations, manufacturers and commercial importers to remove the limit on import advance payments and imports on open account — aimed at facilitating the import of medical equipments, medicines, and other related items for the coronavirus treatment.
The SBP has also allowed the banks to approve the Electronic Import Form (EIF) for the import of the equipment donated by international donor agencies and foreign governments.
