Islamabad: The government has announced the second phase of the Ehsaas Programme – social protection programme – to enable more deserving people to benefit from the scheme, according to a news published on Sunday (February 27).

As per the details, all the arrangements for the launch of the programme has been made and it will be launched soon. Under this initiative, a 30% targeted subsidy will be granted to the 20 million eligible families on monthly basis on the purchase of cooking oil, pulses, and flour. It was disclosed that around 130 million people will benefit from the programme.
Reportedly, the registration portal for Ehsaas Programme was closed on January 26 as its first phase was completed. According to Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Dr Sania Nishtar, the registration for the subsidised ration scheme has started again so more deserving families can benefit from it.

It is pertinent to note that families with less than PKR 50,000 income can register for Ehsaas Programme by sending their Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) number through a message to 8171.
