Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Thursday said that the reforms in the energy sector would continue to provide relief to common people, a news source reported. As per the publication, the PM added that the government was engaged in formulating durable solutions to the problems faced by the country’s gas sector.

The PM made these comments while presiding over a meeting to discuss the reform procedures in the energy sector. He directed the concerned ministry to amplify and speed up the reforms in the gas sector, and diminish the hurdles being faced in this process by utilising the available resources to guarantee relief for the common people.

Several senior government officials including Minister for Energy sector Omar Ayub, Special Advisor to PM on Finance Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Planning Minister Asad Umar, Special Assistant to the PM on Petroleum Nadeem Babar, and Advisor to PM on Commerce Abdul Razzak Dawood were present during the meeting.

Nadeem Babar briefed the meeting about the availability of petroleum products in the country and informed that a sufficient stock of it was present. PM Khan said that as there were limited gas reservoirs in the country at the present, and that these circumstances necessitated a productive and efficient use of the available resources. He directed the officials concerned to consider the utility of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in those regions of the country where natural gas was not supplied so that trees could be saved from being cut down.
