Islamabad: On the request of the Pakistan Ministry of Interior Affairs, Interpol has issued a red warrant for Kamran Kayani – one of the accused in the DHA City Lahore scam – according to a news source. On request of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the ministry reached out to the Interpol to help arrest Kayani, who currently resides in the US
Reportedly, the red warrant was issued on August 17, by Interpol’s Main Secretariat in France.
While pursuing the DHA City Lahore scam case, NAB investigated Kayani’s brother Amjad Kayani and several others. The Bureau requested the ministry a year ago to contact Interpol so that the body could issue a red warrant.
After arranging for the required documents and compiling the needed details, the ministry formally requested Interpol to issue the red warrants. Reportedly, the approval for contacting Interpol was given by the former interior minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan.
