Rawalpindi: The Punjab government has warned the owners of factories and brick kilns involved in emitting dust and fumes to regulate their air pollution levels, or face closure – a news source reported.

For this purpose, the Environment Protection Department (EPD) has issued red notices to at least 310 factories and brick kilns in the city. EPD has asked the owners concerned to adopt environment-friendly measures.
Moreover, it has directed car manufacturers to either shift their operations outside Rawalpindi or face closure. EPD also plans to impose heavy fines on violators.

EPD Assistant Director Amin Baig has confirmed this development. He said that a crackdown to this effect will soon be carried out in the Rawalpindi district. He added that plans are in place to ban vehicles emitting black smoke.
