Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi District Government has issued red notices to the owners of plazas constructed without NOC issuance in all housing schemes within the city, a news source reported on October 23. The news source claims that the notices are issued to the owners of commercial towers and mixed-used buildings having 6 to 13 storeys.

Under the first phase of the district administration’s crackdown, a total of five such buildings have already been sealed. The notices have been issued on direct orders from the Rawalpindi commissioner by the Civil Defence Department. Reportedly, these plaza owners have also failed to get an approval for the building plan.
As part of the crackdown, the owners of these illegal buildings will also be penalised. As per the information shared by a Civil Defence district officer, all buildings having a height more than 38 feet are required to procure an NOC from the Civil Defence Department. The trend however has been that builders have constructed plazas having as many as 13 storeys with this applying for this particular NOC.

Sources within the Civil Defence Department have also revealed that all such buildings will not only be sealed but their cases will be forwarded for legal proceedings.
