Lahore: The Punjab Board of Revenue (BoR) has allowed patwarkhanas to appoint at least 102 patwaris in a bid to address the shortage of these individuals in land record centres – a news source reported.

The city has been divided into 217 circles according to the jurisdiction of each patwarkhana. The law states that every land record centre should have at least one patwari working within it. Currently, however, a total of 107 patwaris are working in these patwarkhanas.
To address this shortage, the district administrations concerned previously requested BoR to provide as many as 100 patwaris. In response, the board has allowed the officials concerned to appoint 102 patwaris. Moreover, it directed at least 15 commissioners to manage these individuals.

Additional Commissioner Revenue Malik Muhammad Awais said that these individuals will be appointed on an immediate basis.
