Lahore: Metropolitan Corporation Lahore’s (MCL) Planning Section has prepared recommendations for LDA Master Plan 2040 in an important development, a news source reported. After the master plan is applied, the worth of land in mixed-use areas and a number of residential areas will be converted from millions to billions.
In this respect, MCL has renewed the categorisation of commercial and industrial areas in all zones. In Ravi Zone, the Sagian Bypass and Pindi Das Road have been converted from open agricultural land to general commercial land. Similarly recommendations have been made to convert some residential areas into commercial ones. It has also been suggested that Lahore Ring Road should be converted from mixed land to industrial area.
Meanwhile, Misri Shah which previously residential and industrial area may now be converted into an entirely industrial area. Khokhar Road, and Begum Kot Road is to be converted from residential to general commercial area while suggestions have been made to converted Shahdara Town Main Bazaar from residential to commercial area.
In Wagah Zone, the GT Road is to be converted from open agricultural land to commercial land as well. Similar suggestions have also been made for several other zones of the city including Shalimar Zone, Allama Iqbal Town Zone, Aziz Bhatti Zone, and Data Gunj Bakhsh Zone.
MCL has dispatched the recommendation to Lahore Development Authority.
