Rawalpindi: The Punjab Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Department has extended the deadline for preparing the feasibility study and detailed design of Defence Chowk and Kutchery Chowk flyovers by eight months, according to news published on Monday (December 6).

According to Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) official (whose name was not disclosed), National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) was conducting the feasibility study and detailed design of the two projects for smooth flow of traffic in the area. The official stated that the government has allocated funds for the flyovers in the annual development programme.

As per the details, the RDA has sent the PC-1 remodelling of Kutchery Chowk and Defence Chowk to Planning and Development for approval. The project of Defence Chowk and Kutchery Chowk was estimated at PKR 2.2 billion and PKR 3.6 billion.
Moreover, RDA Chairman Tariq Mehmood Murtaza disclosed that the construction work on the Ammar Chowk project will be completed by December 31 while the construction of the two-storey flyover at Kutchery Chowk project will start at the beginning of 2022. The construction work on the Defence Chowk project will start after the development of Kutchery Chowk.
