Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has registered First Information Report (FIRs) against 43 unauthorised housing projects in addition to prohibiting them from advertising projects without obtaining no-objection certificates (NOCs) from the authority, as per a news report published on February 3.

Reportedly, the said action was taken on the directives of RDA Chairman Tariq Mehmood Murtaza. It was also revealed that Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Directorate has initiated legal proceedings against marketing campaigns launched for promotion of illegal housing projects in question.
The civic body has clarified that no advertisements/marketing of the real estate projects is permissible without NOC. Moreover, sponsors are also warned to vet the project with the authority or face legal consequences. In addition, RDA has advised the general public against investing in unauthorised housing projects.

The MP&TE directorate has dispatched letters to the State Bank of Pakistan, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation, Pemra, district collector, district council, and power distribution firms regarding these illegal housing schemes and their advertisement restrictions.
