Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has warned the developers of illegal housing projects and schemes to refrain from carrying out any construction work or pursuing property sale/purchase efforts in the city with the threat of a demolition operation against their booking/site offices – a news source reported.

According to RDA Chairman Arif Abbasi, operations against illegal housing schemes will continue. He also said that the authority would register an FIR against developers unwilling to terminate illegal construction activities. The RDA staff has also been directed to carryout operations against such developers without any fear.

In addition, the RDA also advises public from investing in illegal and unapproved housing schemes in the city. In this regard, the potential buyers must confirm the projects’ approval status from the RDA office, or by visiting their official website. Further, the RDA chairman also instructed buyers to follow the publications printed in local dailies which carried warnings against undertaking property purchase in illegal housing projects in the city.

In a similar development, the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RMC) issued legal notices to the developers of 20 unapproved buildings. The notice instructed the building owners to share their building plans with the board or the RMC will demolish the building structures.
