Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has urged the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA)’s Cyber Crime Wing to take action against illegal housing projects and has requested celebrities to ensure the legal status of the housing project before signing up to promote them, according to the authority’s notice published in local newspapers on October 30.

RDA highlighted that unauthorized housing schemes use misleading advertising and sponsorships to deceive the public. Another valid concern raised by the authority is that famous and influential personalities and celebrities from the film, TV, music industry, and sports are increasingly being involved in these deceptive endorsement campaigns. The notice revealed that some of these well-liked individuals have also become legal ambassadors of such illegal housing projects, leading people to trust the projects and invest in them.

The masses have also been warned to refrain from investing in illegal residential schemes and vertical developments. Interested investors are asked to ensure the validity of no-objection certifications (NOCs) issued to these developments by relevant authorities.
Reportedly, the RDA Metropolitan Planning & Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Directorate takes action against illegal housing schemes in Rawalpindi District under the RDA PDC Act, 1976, and Punjab Development Authorities Private Housing Schemes Rules, 2021.
