Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has announced its decision to revise existing building by-laws in major areas including cantonment in a bid to give commercial status to residential properties and expand building infrastructure in the city.

The civic agency intends to designate 5 and 10-marla residential plots as commercial properties. To facilitate this measure, it will ask the departments concerned to amend the existing building by-laws. Moreover, the implementation of urban regeneration planning will create investment and job opportunities in the construction sector.
The decision pertaining to urban registration planning was reached during a meeting between RDA Chairman Tariq Mahmood Murtaza and Station Commander Rawalpindi Brigadier Ijaz Qamar Qayani. MD WASA Raja Shaukat Mahmood and other officials concerned were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the RDA chief said that urban regeneration planning will facilitate increase in the number of well-panned residential accommodations in addition to creating large-scale investment opportunities for mixed-use projects in the city.
