Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has decided to register FIRs against the developers found to be engaged in marketing their illegal projects, reported a news source. RDA Director General Mehar Muhammad Hayat issued the order.

Hayat has instructed the RDA Metropolitan and Traffic Engineering Directorate to start taking legal action to this effect. In this regard, a notice has already been served to a local development company for marketing its unapproved housing scheme. Furthermore, an FIR has also been registered against another developer for committing a similar infraction.

The RDA has also warned people against investing in the housing societies declared illegal in its directory. The authority has also started to issue notices to the developers of illegal housing schemes – directing them to refrain from advertising their projects any further.

The RDA spokesperson Hafiz Muhammad Irfan has also confirmed that the officials concerned have received orders to carry out the operation indiscriminately. For this purpose, the RDA staff will reportedly take stern action against site officers employed in illegal housing schemes and unapproved construction activities.
