Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has been tasked with overseeing the development of mega infrastructure projects including Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) and Leh Expressway, according to a news report published on February 24.

The officials concerned have also been instructed to use their full expertise and increase their performance capacity for the project execution. Reportedly, the RRR project has been approved by the Public-Private Partnership Authority (PPPA) and the Leh Expressway project has been approved by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
To this effect, a meeting of Planning and Development (P&D) was held in Lahore under the chair of Advisor to the Chief Minister on Finance Dr Salaman Shah. The meeting was appraised of the vital role of RDA in the successful execution of both projects on a public-private partnership basis. The meeting was also told that the authority has already overseen the successful execution Islamabad-Rawalpindi Metro Bus Service.

Moreover, the meeting was informed that land acquisition for Ring Road has been completed and the Right of Way (RoW) has been cleared. As for the Leh Expressway, after the demarcation of RoW, the land acquisition process will be launched.
