Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has prepared a draft document to implement the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Building and Zoning Regulations 2019, in Rawalpindi, a news source reported. The draft in this regard has been finalised and is expected to be printed next week.

By implementing the LDA rules, the RDA hopes to increase its revenue accrued in terms of commercialization fee, penalty charges, and composition fee. The approval in this regard was sanctioned during a recently-held meeting of the RDA governing body.

The new draft allows commercialisation of 10% of the building areas. As per the draft, the commercialisation fee in building has been increased from PKR 10 to PKR 15 per square feet. Further, as per the new rules, the LDA will impose heavy penalty on developers found violating the approved building plans or carrying out development work prior to the approval of the building plan.

Moreover, the new rules will also allow the development authority to register FIRs against developers breaching the building bylaws, in addition to imposing penalties on violators.
