Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has decided to construct pedestrian bridges and an underpass at three busy road avenues of the city, reported a news source. According to RDA Director General Mehar Muhammad Hayat, this initiative comes as part of the Annual Development Programme (ADP) for 2019-20.

The underpass will be constructed on the opposite side of the Benazir Bhutto General Hospital, while pedestrian bridges will be built in Shah Khalid Colony (Chaklala) and Gulzar-e-Quaid.
As per reports, the Shah Khalid Colony continues to see many accidents on account of traffic congestion and a lack of proper walking facilities for pedestrians. To help deal with this situation, the RDA is expected to the construction of a pedestrian bridge in the area on a priority basis.

Similarly, people travelling to and from the Benazir Bhutto General Hospital also face inconveniences due to heavy traffic on Murree Road. An underpass is anticipated to help people easily cross the busy road network.
