Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority has set a time frame for the issuance of NOC and approvals for building plans in order to promote construction activity in the city, according to news sources. To this effect, the new SOPs for building plans’ approvals were notified on June 22.
Speaking to media on Saturday (June 20), RDA Chairman Tariq Mehmood Murtaza said that the authority will take disciplinary action against officers failing to approve building plans in the communicated time frame for applicants who complete the related documentation process.

Murtaza further said that the implementation of new SOPs for will help promote construction activity in accordance with vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan. At the same time, the process of land record digitisation is also underway at the RDA, he revealed. The process will help keep Rawalpindi’s real estate data safe.
As per the information shared by the RDA chairman, all related departments have received the directives to ensure that the SOPs notified do not face delay in their implementation.

Here is the new timeline set for issuance of approvals for private housing projects and developments in the RDA’s jurisdiction:
- Approval for commercial and residential buildings to be issued in 30 days
- Approvals for building plan for change of purpose (change in the status of land-use) to be issued in 45 days
- Approvals for building plans for private housing schemes to be issued in 60 days
- Completion certificates to be issued in 30 days
