Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Chairman Tariq Mahmood Murtaza on Sunday (October 10) announced the collection of PKR 2 billion in tax revenue generated in the current fiscal year 2021-22, news sources reported.

Moreover, the chairman said that the authority is focused on the provision of facilities to the industries through its ease of doing business (EoDB) policies. The successful policies have thus increased the volume of the construction industry in the region to PKR 71 billion in the last 3 years. Furthermore, chairman Murtaza added that the administration has digitised building land records dating back to 1989. The authority will function more efficiently as a result of digitization and the development of one-window operation for construction plan approvals.

Mr Murtaza went on to say that following the formation of the IT cell, the authority would be paperless in a month, and the approval of the house map will take 45 days, the commercial map 45 days, and the housing society map 65 days. The chairman also announced that the RDA will establish its own housing schemes and multistory buildings throughout the city’s 26 union councils. All of these structures will be constructed as model housing plans in place of the city’s existing slums. In addition, he announced the start of four mega-projects: Ammar Chowk, Kutchery Chowk, Defence Chowk, and Leh Nullah Expressway.
