The Director General (DG) of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), Kinza Murtaza, announced plans for the establishment of a Task Force aimed at addressing the proliferation of illegal housing schemes during a meeting convened on Wednesday, according to news sources.
Emphasizing the imperative of addressing citizen concerns, Director General Murtaza underscored the necessity for stringent adherence to legal protocols in combating violations within the housing sector. In line with this commitment, she directed the formation of a dedicated redressal committee to promptly address citizen grievances, while ensuring expeditious action on reported irregularities.

Further, the DG instructed RDA’s planning wing to sustain efforts in curbing the proliferation of illegal housing schemes, which have been reported to exploit and mislead the populace. Notably, citizens were advised against engaging in transactions with such ventures, with the RDA website serving as a resource to verify the legitimacy of housing schemes.
In response to non-compliance, Director General Murtaza mandated strict enforcement measures, encompassing the immediate cessation of all developmental activities, promotional campaigns, and events associated with illicit housing ventures. Violators were cautioned of legal repercussions under the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976 and Punjab Development Authorities Private Housing Scheme Rules 2021.

The meeting, attended by key officials including the Director of MP&TE and Deputy Director of Planning, reaffirmed the RDA’s commitment to upholding regulatory standards and safeguarding the interests of the public.
