Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) takes over function of building control and private housing schemes in the entire Rawalpindi district area, a news source reported on June 20.

As per the details, the governing body of the RDA has granted approval for the assumption of functions related to private housing schemes and building control. However, the finalization of records and details regarding the revenue sharing formula is pending.
The 63rd meeting of the governing body was chaired by Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatha. In attendance were RDA Director General Saif Anwar Jappa, Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Managing Director Mohammad Tanveer and other RDA officials. The directors from RDA provided a comprehensive presentation on the agenda items to the governing body.

Commissioner Rawalpindi emphasized the need to strengthen building control to enhance efficiency. He stressed the importance of promptly formulating a formula in collaboration with both RDA and the District Council to allocate functions pertaining to private housing schemes and building control. During the meeting, the governing body approved the agenda for reinforcing RDA’s administration by creating the position of an additional director general (BS-20).
