Rawalpindi: On the second day of its mega operation launched against illegal housing schemes operating in the city, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) sealed site offices of two such projects, a news source reported. The RDA had initiated the operation on July 23, when it announced to implement the set laws without discrimination by upholding a zero tolerance policy against unapproved housing schemes.

As per the information shared by RDA spokesperson Mohammad Irfan, the civic agency demolished the head office of a housing scheme located in Mouza Mohra Shahwali and sealed two of its site offices. Irfan revealed that the site offices of two illegal housing schemes in Wah Cant were also sealed, while the development work underway in an illegal housing scheme in Taxila was also halted by the officials concerned.

Furthermore, the RDA has sent notices to the developers of the illegal housing schemes and directed them to stop their operations under the Punjab Private Housing Schemes and Land Subdivision Rules 2010. It has advised the public against making investments in such projects. Reportedly, the development authority has also requested the power and gas supply companies to prohibit electricity and gas supplies to these societies.
