Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Wednesday (May 25) sent a development budget request of PKR 2.28 billion for the fiscal year 2022-23 (FY23) to the Punjab government, news sources reported.

According to reports, the Rawalpindi Development Authority’s Finance Sub-Committee vetted the budget for the next fiscal year. The committee also praised RDA teams for saving PKR 153 million in the previous development year, which would be included in the approved budget. The meeting was presided over by RDA Director-General (DG) Capt. (R) Tahir Zafar Abbasi, who granted final approval to the budget suggestions.
The meeting was informed that the total budget will be utilised to complete current development projects such as:
- Construction of 38.3 kilometres long Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) main carriageway from Banth (N-5) to Thalian (M-2)
- Provision of LED street lights for Ward 1 to Ward 6 of CCB, UC-42, UC-75 and UC-78, Rawalpindi
- Land acquisition for the construction of the Lai Expressway & Flood Channel
- Land acquisition for Construction of the phase-1 of the Nullah Lai Project from Katarian to Ammar Chowk
- Remodeling of Kutchery Chowk

Furthermore, the authority saved PKR 145 million from the authorised non-development budget of PKR 395 million in FY22, according to the meeting. The yearly tax objectives for FY 22 were set at PKR 433 million, which the authority achieved.
