Under the new project, interest-free micro loans will be offered to the citizens interested in the initiative and the authority will provide free seeds. Talking on the occasion he said that such small-scale, social-sector enterprises might offer people jobs and improved lives, in addition to organic veggies, which would enhance their health and lower their expenditures.

Last year, RDA had started a kitchen gardening project in 500 five-marla houses of the city, by providing them with stands and seeds. The chairman revealed that the authority also provided training to selected people to motivate them in growing vegetables at home.
Reportedly, kitchen gardening is fast becoming popular in urban centres around the world for its organic, pesticide-free benefits that improve human health.
