In this respect, the RDA selection committee has written to the Planning and Development (P&D) Board to re-advertise the proposal. In a letter to the P&D Board, the RDA urged the authority to provide support in either re-advertising the proposal in the national media to seek bids from local businesses again or contact multinational corporations for the project. According to RDA sources, the authority advertised for firms to determine optimal route alignment (Phase-I) and land use plan along the third-party approved route’s economic corridor (Phase-II). On September 19, just two firms submitted proposals, and both were rejected on technical grounds following a careful review.

It is worth noting that the RRR project was launched in March, but construction could not begin. According to the new alignment, the project’s entire cost is PKR 33.7 billion, which includes PKR 27 billion for construction and PKR 6.7 billion for land acquisition, and the total length of the main highway is 38.3 kilometres.
