Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has questioned the implementation of bylaws by individual societies that do not match with the bylaws of the Punjab government, a news source reported. RDA Chairman Arif Abbasi stated that the agency has received a number of complaints regarding the rules and regulations of the housing societies that contravene with the rules set by the government.
RDA has sent notices to all the housing societies to explain their position or risk action, according to Abbasi, on the basis of written complaints. According to the complaints, hefty transfer fees, security deposit and other extra charges are being collected by the housing societies. Similarly, housing societies issue transfer letters even when they don’t have the authority to do it.
Another complaint was that housing societies charge for utilities and amenities like water and security, but don’t provide the services.
All the approved housing societies have been asked to submit the details of their rules and regulations and the fee structures, so that the authority can check whether they are legal or not.
