Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has announced plans to construct a public parking lot on a 5-kanal plot of land located in the Mohanpura Housing Scheme, news sources reported on December 23.
The parking lot will be located across from the Novelty Cinema in Rawalpindi and will be used to reduce roadside parking and traffic congestion problems in the area. The RDA has issued directives to remove any unauthorized structures from the property before starting construction.
DG Muhammad Saif Anwar Jappa inspected the 5-kanal open space and asked RDA to begin construction of a boundary wall. He also issued guidelines to help locals park their automobiles and motorcycles.
It is important to note that RDA has asked its enforcement officers to vacate public land from encroachment within one week to reduce problems in traffic flow. The public parking lot project is another step in the same direction, ensuring that citizens are provided with the much-needed parking space for their vehicles in Rawalpindi.
