Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has advised the Punjab government to include at least 24 development schemes in the Annual Development Programme (ADP) for the fiscal year 2019-20 – a news source reported.

A summary to this effect was recently forwarded to the Punjab Planning and Development (P&D) Department for review. Reportedly, six of the 24 projects were initiated during the tenure of the previous government.
Some of the incomplete schemes include: dualisation of a link road between Tipu Road and Airport Road; dualisation of Qadir Khan Road from Islamabad Highway Missile Chowk to Falcon Complex Road; construction, rehabilitation of Dry Port Road from Rahimabad Flyover to Welfare Complex at Chaklala Railway Station on Shell Depot Road, and rehabilitation of Airport Road from Noor Khan Airbase to Koral Chowk.

Moreover, the civic agency has yet to gain approval for the construction of Leh Expressway, Ring Road, Double Road Interchange, Liaquat Bagh, and a signal-free corridor project at Marir Chowk.
The federal government recently increased the amount of funds issued to MNAs from PKR 150 million to PKR 200 million. In a similar measure, it allocated funds worth PKR 100 million each for MPAs.

As of now, Rawalpindi has a total of 20 lawmakers (six MNAs and 14 MPAs). These individuals will reportedly be issued a total sum of PKR 2.6 billion next week.
