Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has finalized its action plan to deal with illegal housing societies constructed within the Rawalpindi Division, a news source reported. Under the first phase of the operation, the development authority is expected to take legal action against 48 housing schemes in the city.

As per the details shared by the RDA, the chosen 48 housing schemes are located in Kallar Syedan, Texila, and in areas surrounding the Chakri Interchange on the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway M-2. The RDA’s Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering Department will complete this operation in a period of 3 months, under which it will seal the booking offices of illegal housing schemes, and register an FIR against the project’s developers.

The RDA will deal with the remaining illegal housing projects in the coming phases. In the meanwhile, it has uploaded the details of over 100 illegal real estate projects on their official website. In order to make citizens aware of the status of new and existing housing schemes, the RDA regularly shares updates warning people to steer clear of illegal and unapproved projects.
