Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has launched an operation against illegal and unregistered housing schemes in its jurisdiction, news sources reported on November 18.

The operation was launched on the directions of RDA Director General Mohammad Saif Anwar Jappa, who ordered the closure of all illegal societies involved in defrauding the citizens. As per RDA sources, the authority has taken action against schemes over the violation of the Punjab Private Housing Scheme Rules 2021. The RDA teams, accompanied by the members of the respective police stations, demolished the booking offices of three illegal private housing schemes at Thatha Gorakhpur Road and two illegal subdivisions at Tarahia Gorakhpur Road in Rawalpindi.

The authority also launched the first information reports (FIRs) against the owners of all the housing schemes. It is important to note that the Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered all the housing development schemes in Punjab to launch operations against all illegal housing schemes and ensure a QR code for every scheme
