Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority’s (RDA) governing body has decided to review the No Objection Certificate (NOC) criteria for all housing schemes in its jurisdiction, news sources reported on November 21.

The RDA will form a technical committee that will ascertain whether or not the housing schemes approved by the Rawalpindi Metropolitan Corporation (RMC) and District Council have fulfilled the criteria set by the Punjab government. The technical committee will conduct a survey of all housing societies to check whether they fulfil the criteria set by the Punjab government. The technical committee will also formulate terms of reference (ToR)s for these housing schemes to enable RDA to issue no-objection certificates. In addition to this, the governing body also approved the following regulatory matters:
- Approval for the preliminary study for classification, re-classification, and re-development of the RDA-approved housing scheme Mohanpura in accordance with the procedure outlined in the Punjab Development Authority Land Use Rules 2021
- Organizing a rapid study through a consultant and presenting the consultant’s suggestions to the governing body within one month. It will aid in the regulation of unlawful property conversions following due process of law
- The RDA governing board also accepted the RDA’s proposal to execute the presidential secretariat instruction on implementing the National Highway Authority’s right-of-way procedures

It is worth noting that the RDA has launched a major operation against unlawful housing schemes in its jurisdiction in order to combat the menace of fraudulent housing schemes. So far, the RDA has demolished structures in three housing schemes.
