Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) is considering changing the status of 20 roads from non-commercial to commercial, as commercial activities on these roads is significantly high, according to a news source. The process has already been initiated but the final decision is yet to be taken.
Reportedly, the final decision will be taken once the new land usage rules are released. According to sources, these rules have been finalised. A notification will be issued in this regard in the beginning of 2018, after which the status of under-consideration 20 roads, including Defence Road, New Morgah Road, and High Court Road, will be officially changed to commercial.
This will also help the authority earn millions in terms of commercial fee, and arrange for parking space from the owners of these properties, which is a must according to RDA’s Building Bylaws for commercial property.
