The premier is expected to lay the foundation stone for Leh Expressway in April. Reportedly, the Asian Development Bank would contribute PKR 30 billion to the construction of this sewage treatment facility on 5,500 kanals of land controlled by the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) in Gorakhpur. The Punjab government has given formal clearance for the construction of a sewage treatment facility and a 20-kilometre-long sewerage tunnel for the safe disposal of wastewater in Rawalpindi, with the goal of reducing environmental pollution.

According to authorities, Rawalpindi’s sewers will be linked to a tunnel that would carry sewage to a treatment plant. The treated water will be disposed of in Swan River and used for irrigation purposes. Water from the city’s drainage will also flow into the tunnel, which will be 10 feet in a circle, 10 feet deep under the Nullah Leh, and reinforced with a concrete wall.
