Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) recently issued Challan B-34 and other notices to four housing societies — identified as being ‘illegal’ — located on Chakri Road and Girja Road, according to news sources.

Reportedly, it was the Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Directorate of the RDA that issued these notices under the Punjab Private Housing Schemes and Land Subdivision Rules. In addition, as per the directives of the Director MP&TE, First Information Reports (FIRs) will also be filed against these four housing schemes.
Furthermore, the RDA officials took the opportunity to reiterate that the public shouldn’t invest their life earnings in unauthorised housing projects (declared illegal by RDA). This will allow people to preserve their own interests and avoid unnecessary loses in the future.

The MP&TE directorate has been instructed to launch strict action against illegal residential projects within its jurisdiction. The development or construction of booking and site offices will also be demolished as per the law, without discrimination.
Previously, the RDA governing body had authorized a third-party audit of 48 authorised housing schemes and a commercial complex that were allegedly built on state land. This, in turn, helped with identifying the aforementioned illegal societies in the city.
