Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has approved a grand operation against illegal housing schemes in Murree — with the crackdown expected to kick off in the second week of March, according to news sources.
To this effect, the RDA has sought the assistance of City Police Officer (CPO) Muhammad Ahsan Younas to counter any possible opposition during the operations. Similarly, the government authority has also initiated the process of conducting building inspections in order to do away with the illegal construction activity in the area.

DG RDA Ammara Khan stated she had launched a ‘Jihad’ against illegal housing societies in the area. She further revealed that the gates, offices and surrounding walls of illegal societies would be bulldozed, followed by the arrest of their owners and the removal of advertisement boards.
She added that dozens of housing societies had been declared illegal in the Murree area, as the owners and management teams of these societies had been found to have embezzled exorbitant sums of money from the general public. Likewise, she warned the general public to not invest in housing schemes that have been declared illegal by the RDA.
