Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has advised local citizens against pursuing investment opportunities in housing societies declared illegal by the civic agency, according to a news report. It issued an advisory notice to this effect on Thursday, where it stated that any such investment would be at the buyer’s own risk; indicating that the RDA would not be liable for the accrual of any losses.

The RDA particularly issued warnings against seven illegal societies that had not received their approvals from the body and were, in response, declared illegal. It stipulated that any scheme which does not have a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the RDA is illegal. Therefore, any marketing activity, advertisements, and development through marketing agencies, private limited companies and/or civil proprietorships are also subsequently illegal.

Accordingly, it warned the general public against these seven societies and also warned its sponsors to cease all marketing and development activities immediately to avoid legal action. Further, RDA Director General Ammara Khan has instructed the Metropolitan and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Directorate to take strict action against all such schemes.
