Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority’s (RDA) Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) directorate issued a warning to the owners of illegal housing schemes ordering them to halt all development and marketing activities, including ceremonies, according to news sources.

The proprietors have also been instructed by the directorate to stop illegal printing and electronic marketing. The RDA has filed a lawsuit against the illegal housing schemes and has received First Information Reports (FIRs). Aside from that, Planning Permission was also revoked.
According to the directorate, the illegal housing project held an inauguration ceremony for the Overseas block and welcomed Shahid Khan Afridi as the special guest. A notification was sent to the owner to notify him of the breach of rules and regulations and to halt the ceremony on the site.
As per RDA MP&TE, the ceremony is a sort of advertisement for the plan and violates the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976 and the Punjab Private Housing Scheme and Land Subdivision Rules 2010.

Furthermore, the RDA has warned the general population not to invest in illegal housing schemes. The authorities have also instructed the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL), Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), and PTCL not to supply services to such housing projects.
A RDA spokesperson stated that RDA director general ordered RDA MP&TE directorate to take strict action against the unauthorized commercial and residential construction activities, booking offices, and encroachment.
