Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has taken notice of the increasing number of illegal housing societies in the district and has directed the planning wing to take action against these projects, news sources reported on March 10.

RDA Director General Saif Anwar Jappa has directed the planning wing of RDA to visit illegal housing schemes on a daily basis and demolish site offices and structures. The MP&TE Directorate has also been asked to take strict action against illegal and unauthorised housing schemes, construction, and encroachment of booking and site offices. The RDA has decided to take strict action against illegal land conversion, sub-division, and marketing of such schemes. The officials have been instructed to monitor the functioning of illegal housing schemes regularly.

The RDA has warned that it is illegal to start housing schemes, apartment projects, commercial buildings, and other developments without obtaining the required no objection certificate (NOC) from the civic body. The RDA has also requested people not to invest in illegal housing schemes and has established a special desk to inquire about housing schemes.
