Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has barred any unlawful housing societies within its jurisdiction from marketing and selling plots, news sources reported on August 22. The administration has asked that all illegal and unapproved housing societies obtain an official No-Objection Certificate (NOC) before their project’s marketing.

In this regard, the Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Directorate RDA has filed a police complaint against seven housing schemes and has asked their sponsors to obtain departmental permission before selling plots. Additionally, it was informed that RDA has approached the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) cybercrime wing to launch an investigation against such societies for using social media and digital channels for marketing. The authority has also warned the public to beware of such illegal societies and to confirm with the RDA before investing in any housing scheme.

Moreover, the DG RDA has asked the MP&TE directorate to take stern action against unlawful and unlicensed housing developments, constructions, commercial operations, booking offices, and encroachments.
