Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has decided to place private housing schemes under scrutiny in its bid to ensure the provision of basic amenities, a news source reported. For this purpose, the civic agency has constituted a team under the supervision of Metropolitan Town Planning & Traffic Engineering Director Tahir Miyo.

The team has been tasked with carrying out a survey of the residential schemes operating under RDA’s jurisdiction. The authority wants to ensure that the societies in question provide the basic urban facilities listed on their approved layout plans.
The team will conduct multiple surveys to inspect the availability of a number of facilities – including commercial areas, roads, mosques, hospitals, cemeteries, and parks – in these private societies.

As per reports, several housing schemes in the city are involved in the illegal practice of carving residential plots in spaces reserved for amenities and selling them for exorbitant gains.
