Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has expedited the operation against the illegal housing schemes in the city, according to a news story published in the national dailies on September 12.

RDA Chairman Tariq Mehmood Murtaza and Director General Muhammad Saif Anwar Jappa have directed the authority to speed up the operation against the illegal housing projects. According to an RDA spokesperson (whose name was not disclosed), the authority has demolished 22 under-construction residential building structures, nine billboards of four illegal housing schemes, and four site offices on Chak Beli Road.
Moreover, the Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Directorate RDA stated that the housing societies were in violation of the rules and approved layout plans. The director mentioned that the owners of these housing schemes have been developing buildings that were against the RDA’s directives and without No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) or approval of maps.

Additionally, the director informed that the authority has already issued notices to the housing societies to halt illegal advertising and construction. The RDA has asked the citizens to check the status of the housing schemes before investing.
