Rawalpindi: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has asked the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) to make the arrangements for holding the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project inauguration after the monsoon season, a news source quoted RDA Chairman Tariq Murtaza as saying on Thursday (June 4).

The chairman further revealed that the PM would lay the project’s foundation stone in August.Speaking to the media, Murtaza said that the said inaugural rock would be laid near the Margalla Hills, which form part of the ring road’s route. He further stated that several other infrastructural development schemes were also planned in Rawalpindi.

Reportedly, the RDA chairman recently had a meeting with the PM to brief him on the ongoing development projects in the city. The premier directed him to ensure their timely completion; particularly the development of ring road project.

Answering a question regarding the development work carried out so far on the project, Murtaza said that the RDA expects the RRR’s drawing and designing work to be completed in June; following which the undertaking will move to the execution stage.
