Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has shared that new development projects launched under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) for the fiscal year (FY) 2022-23 require funds of PKR 1.18 trillion for completion, according to a news published on May 17.

As per the authority, the new development projects for the city include Nullah Leh and Flood Channel Project Phase –I, the addition of three floors in the RDA parking plaza, signal-free underpasses at Liaquat Bagh and Murrir Chowk and the RDA complex project. The existing development schemes, on the other hand, include the Rawalpindi Ring Road project, the land acquisition for the Leh Expressway project, the establishment of the Project Management Unit and the remodelling of Kutchery Chowk.
The authority has sought PKR 1.40 billion for the existing projects and PKR 1.8 trillion has been required for the newly proposed development schemes. The breakdown of the funds specified for the existing and new projects is as follows:
- PKR 26,969.70 million will be used to develop Rawalpindi Ring Road, of which, PKR 1,200 million has been proposed for next year
- PKR 24.960 billion is required for the Leh Expressway and Flood Channel’s land acquisitiom
- PKR 4,579.540 million is needed to remodel the Kutchery Chowk
- PKR 95 million is needed for the establishment of the Project Management Unit
- PKR 10 million is sought for the installation of LED lights at Chaklala Cantonment Board’s Ward #1 to Ward#6 and union councils of the city

- PKR 46.961 million is sought for the construction of the 9.80-kilometre-long route of Nulla Leh Expressway from Ammar Shaheed Chowk to Katarian Bridge
- PKR 425.95 million is sought for the construction of the second, third and fourth floors of the RDA parking plaza at Fawara Chowk
- PKR 4,722 million is required for the development of the signal-free underpasses at Liaquat Bagh and Murrir Chowk
- PKR 297 million is needed for the development of a complex at the RDA old building in the first phase
- PKR 90 million is sought for the construction of multi-storey apartments for RDA employees
- PKR 70 million is required for the development of a multistorey commercial building in Sherpao Colony in the first phase
- Moreover, multiple projects of construction of shops on RDA-owned lands, development and rehabilitation of squares, roads and street infrastructure are also included in ADP.
