Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Monday announced that it had proceeded to demolish 13 under-construction buildings and site offices of two illegal residential societies — as part of the government authority’s ongoing crackdown against encroachments within the city, according to news sources.
The operation was conducted near Islamabad International Airport (IIA) by a RDA team that included Director Land Use and Building Control (LU&BC), Director Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE), Deputy Director Planning, Superintendent Scheme, Assistant Director Building Control, Building Inspectors and other concerned officials — with assistance from the local police.

An illegally installed transformer and road infrastructure were also removed from the locale. The offices of the aforementioned housing schemes were demolished as they violated the Punjab Private Housing Schemes and Land Subdivision Rules 2010.
