Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) is to start construction of a high-rise building on Murree Road, according to the news sources. This building is being made for commercial purposes and will also accommodate RDA offices.
As the ban on high rise building on Murree Road is lifted after the relocation of the airport, the plaza will be constructed upon the 13-Kanals of RDA land sitting adjacent to the Municipal Library. The authority plans to construct the commercial building on a public-private partnership mode.

RDA Chairman Arif Abbasi said that the basic purpose of this new complex is to generate revenue for the civic body. This revneue will be used in the development projects under taken by the RDA. He added that the RDA currently has over 10 development projects awaiting the funds. The government has promised to release funds soon. Until then, the RDA plans to manage things on its own, he said.
The chairman said that the governing body of the authority has sanctioned the complex and the construction will begin soon. He also revealed that RDA has consulted the Land Revenue Department for the land demarcation of land. Moreover, he said that the RDA is looking to get some additional land on the rear side of the plot from district administration.

The first three floors of the plaza will be used for commercial purposes, and the top two or three floors will be used for the department’s offices. The chairman said that a consultant torepare PC-1 of the project will be hired soon.
