Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Chairman Tariq Mehmood Murtaza on Sunday (April 24) praised the authority’s management for the one window facilitation centre that serves the business community of the division, news sources reported. Under the new arrangement, businesses and citizens get information and submit their queries/applications for various types of approval – all under one roof.

In an interview with the media, the chairman stated that the ease of doing business for residents has increased since they no longer have to visit multiple authorities for getting approvals. The residents simply have to submit their applications at RDA one window centre now, and they will receive approval within a certain time frame. Moreover, he stated that the authority has established the following time limits for certain approvals:
- 30 days for the approval of the map and issuance of construction completion certificates
- 45 days for the issuance of no-objection certificates (NOC) of change in land use
- 60 to 75 days for the permits of the residential societies

Furthermore, he emphasised the authority’s continued development activities and tax collection efforts. He stated that RDA has been self-sufficient in the last three fiscal years, with the highest tax collection to date.
RDA Chairman Murtaza highlighted that authority has launched projects to ease traffic issues, including the 38.3-kilometre-long six-lane Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project. The project, which would run from Baanth (N-5) to Thallian (M-2), will cost PKR 22.8 billion and will be completed by Frontier Works Organization (FWO) in 2 years.
Similarly, RDA has launched Kutchery Chowk for PKR 4.8 billion, Defence Chowk for PKR 4 billion, and Nullah Lai Expressway project. He stated that all of these projects will be completed for the greater good of the population, reducing traffic congestion and flood protection.
